Overview:

Join Living Rivers, Clearwater and representatives from the City of Manningham to visit this award winning integrated stormwater harvesting project.

This $2.8M project will treat more than 35 mega litres of stormwater per year, providing a reliable alternative water source and meeting close to 99% of irrigation demand for the surrounding sports ground and golf course.

Additionally the project will

  • reduce stormwater pollutants going into the Yarra River
  • reduce irrigation extractions from the Yarra River which will support environmental flows
  • minimise flooding issues by enhancing drainage in the local catchment

The Bolin Bolin project worked with a significant number of stakeholders including state and federal agencies (funding partners Melbourne Water Living Rivers program, DELWP), adjoining municipalities (City of Boroondara) and private businesses and educational institutions (Carey Baptist Grammar School).

The site tour will visit three sites that form the Bolin Bolin project

  • Bolin basin / wetland (1.5ML) control shed
  • Control shed and two x 214 kilolitre storage tanks within Bulleen Park
  • 8ML storage basin within the Freeway Golf Course.

Participants will be responsible for organising their own travel to the meeting point and then mini buses will be provided to travel across the 3 sites.

This tour is by invite only for council practitioners. Suitable for anyone involved in integrated water management, sustainable water planning or asset maintenance, including developers, engineers, planners, architects, environment, construction and maintenance staff.
