Flowing forward: Indigenous knowledge and science weaved into Murray Darling Basin e-water delivery

Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder

The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder is working with First Nations communities in 2025 to incorporate cultural knowledge into the Flow-MER Program, which studies how allocated environmental water is supporting plants, animals, and landscapes across the Murray Darling Basin. This initiative aims to improve decision-making and achieve both environmental and cultural outcomes.

First Nations People are actively contributing to the program by identifying cultural outcomes and participating in monitoring activities. These efforts help ensure that water planning supports the health, identity, and wellbeing of communities and Country.
